Job Description

DeKalb Tool Rental offers an extensive selection of rental equipment and tools to North-Central Illinois. Items range in variety from handheld power tools, to small gas-powered equipment, to skidsteers and loaders. A Rental Yard Technician is responsible for explaining the safe and proper operation of rental equipment to customers, loading and unloading equipment into customer's vehicles, writing orders and taking payment through computer software, filling out check in/out paperwork as equipment leaves and returns, performing routine maintenance and basic to moderate repairs to equipment, and delivering equipment to customers as needed.

A Rental Yard Technician will be expected to lift and carry up to 75 lbs on a regular basis, be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and temperatures, and work directly with customers and other employees.

Weekdays 8:00am-5:00pm
Saturday 8:00am-3:00pm
Sunday 8:00am-1:00pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Place equipment on display at the start of each day
  • Keep shop and yard space organized and clean, including sweeping, moping. etc.
  • Write rental orders and accept payment via computer software; close rental orders upon return.
  • Assist customers as they come to pickup and return their rental equipment including reviewing operation and safety instructions verbally with customers
  • Complete check in/out paperwork as equipment leaves and returns to the rental yard
  • Clean and perform routine maintenance on equipment as it is returned
  • Perform basic and moderate repairs to equipment including diagnosing reported issues, ordering parts, executing repairs, and logging repair costs in computer system
  • Load and unload heavy equipment from trucks and trailers
  • Perform delivery and pickup of equipment to customers with pickup truck and trailer
  • Maintain building and grounds including mowing, trimming, and snow removal
  • Performing service calls to repair equipment out on rent, including after-hours service calls as necessary

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid US drivers license with a clean driving record
  • Some experience towing trailers up to 14,000 lbs preferred
  • Some extent of small engine knowledge/experience is preferred
  • Must pass drug screen prior to employment and additional screens throughout employment
  • Must be able to speak, understand, and write English clearly and fluently
  • Must be physically able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs on a regular basis
  • Formal small engine repair training and/or certification is preferred but not required
  • Position is subject to a criminal background check

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
