Position Summary:

Responsible for providing specialized tutorial instruction for students in qualified Business subjects, enhancing student understanding of assignments, and assisting with general study skills and strategies. Tutor 2 provides focused tutoring for students in relevant courses through appointments, drop-ins, email consultations, embedded tutoring, and/or study groups.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides specialized educational assistance to students in qualified Business, Accounting, Finance, and/or Economics subjects.
  • May collaborate with faculty to provide embedded tutoring support in specific, designated courses.
  • Meets and communicates with students in person and via e-mail, Blackboard, and other online platforms.
  • Collaborates with Tutoring Leads and/or supervisor to develop workshops and materials that will enhance student understanding of coursework.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of experience in tutoring or related environment.
  • Completion of coursework in subjects to be tutored with at least a "B" or equivalent professional experience.
  • Has completed an introductory tutoring course (e.g. Tutor Essentials) and Embedded Tutor Training or will complete one within one semester of hire.
  • Good organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in computer usage and word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Is a team player within the department as well as with other departments.
  • Communicates effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
