WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR


Humans of Hip Hop (H3) is a flagship MusiCares program to grow MusiCares support to hip hop professionals across the United States, with a focus on 8 catalytic cities. Launching in 2023 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of hip hop, H3 will work in partnership with hip hop artist advocates, supporting organizations and hip hop communities. The H3 Project Lead is an integral role, responsible for delivering on core objectives and activities of the project, as well as growing and sustaining external relationships with organizations, artists and key community members.

An effective H3 Project Lead will bring excellent project management, attention to detail, ability to build relationships and be highly resourceful. While substantially supported by the Health and Human Services team and Vice President, the H3 Project Lead will be expected to work well independently and in coordination with the Marketing and Development teams at MusiCares.


WHAT YOU’LL DO


  • Provide day to day oversight and leadership of the H3 program deliverables and scope, in coordination with the HHS Vice President;
  • Maintain a close pulse on the hip hop industry, trends in the genre and the needs of the hip hop community;
  • Develop, foster and sustain partnerships with like-focused organizations and hip hop community leaders, including the collaborative hosting of events;
  • Develop and operationalize detailed program plans for the H3 program, including co-creation dialogues, ongoing panels and additional programming in health, human, mental health and addiction recovery services;
  • Work in close coordination with the MusiCares Marketing team to effectively message and promote H3 materials and events;
  • Work in close coordination with the MusiCares Development team to provide periodic updates to H3 Sponsors and ensure alignment with Sponsor commitments;
  • Travel to H3 cities, as needed, to oversee and manage details of in-person events, meetings with partners and content collection;
  • Provide overall thought leadership on the direction and specific elements of the H3 program and operationalize specific elements;
  • Work with the leadership team to effectively manage deliverables and support relationships with Artist Advocates;
  • Provide outstanding representation of MusiCares with the hip hop community, music industry companies and other external partners;
  • In coordination with the HHS Vice President, regularly review H3 metrics and budget, and make corrections/adaptations as needed


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor’s Degree, with preference for a Master’s Degree in business administration, public health, psychology or social work
  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience, including proven experience managing layered programs and developing programs
  • Passion for MusiCares mission and proven servant leadership mindset.
  • Highly resourceful and ability to work well independently, and drive deliverables
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to interact with variety of different constituents and a strong client service approach, as well as strong communication skills
  • Thrives in a collaborative and entrepreneurial business environment.
  • Able to maintain composure during high-stress, complex situations, particularly when assisting with client care
  • Adapts well to change, is flexible and open minded, readily takes on new challenges, handles pressure and strong ability to adjust plans to meet changing departmental needs
  • Knowledge of database products and how to optimize data for reports and departmental analytics
  • Strong computer skills, including MS office suite, Mail Chimp, Eventbrite and/or comparable creative suite software.
