Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Technologist will utilize a working knowledge of the complex instruments used in the clinical laboratory to perform the work required with efficiency and accuracy. The Medical Technologist will perform laboratory test procedures including those that are age dependent and keep abreast advancements made in clinical laboratory sciences while reflecting current legal, ethical, and professional standards in all areas of responsibility.

What you will do in this role:

• Perform daily QC and preventative maintenance on analyzers and equipment when required
• Investigate and correct lab status discrepancies within the work shift and report pending items to oncoming shift
• Repeat and verify abnormal results, investigate and resolve any discrepancy
• Call all critical results immediately and document in LIS
• Perform analytical testing
• Participate in scheduled department meetings and in-service programs
• Maintain certification requirements
• Perform duties according to laboratory policies and procedures
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Familiar with lab policies and procedures and must be able to advise MLTs and other non-technical personnel on appropriate action to take when questions arise
• Process specimens when received in laboratory

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates Degree Required
• Current MT Licensure through AMT, ASCP or AAB
• 6 months experience in related role preferred
