RAINN's policy department is accepting applications for a Policy Law Clerk. Our policy department advocates for an improved criminal justice system in order to ensure that more rapists are incarcerated, and that victims of sexual violence obtain the justice they deserve. We monitor policies, legislation and regulations that impact victims of sexual violence. Additionally, we work with Congress to promote laws dedicated to helping survivors of sexual assault. The Policy Law Clerk can be a full or part time position, with the standard number of hours for the summer term set between 30 hours per week, and for the rest of the year between approximately 10-20 hours per week. Start and end times are flexible, depending on the law intern's academic calendar and finals schedule.
Position Description
The Policy Law Clerk provides essential legal research and fact gathering concerning a wide range of sexual violence issues. The Law Clerk will also be expected to draft materials as needed, including memoranda and one-page summaries, and may be asked to review and analyze legislation, regulations, and other policy documents. The fields of law to which the Policy Law Clerk will be most exposed include, but are not limited to, the following: constitutional law, criminal law, criminal procedure, and family law.
