The Civil Engineer (Hydraulic) will perform investigations of erosion and flooding problems, as well as schedule and make on-site inspections with local officials and private citizens. In this position, the employee also prepares engineering reports that detail existing conditions, determines the problem to be addressed, assists in identifying the appropriate remedial work, and if necessary, assists in designing and estimating costs for the remedial work and researches other available programs that may provide assistance. Other duties require the employee to perform specific designated engineering computations in hydrology and hydraulics as assigned and assists in preparation and review of drawings and technical specifications for hazard mitigation projects.
This position will assist locals in developing applications and executing mitigation projects for future community all-hazard resilience, to include enhancing community lifelines.
The employee will become familiar with the aspects of FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program and PEMA’s responsibilities to assist in Floodplain Management activities which includes assistance in the conducting of FEMA and State required Community Assistance Visits (CAV), Community Assistance Contacts (CAC), General Technical Assistance (GTA).
