Job Summary:
The Business Analyst is responsible for researching business functions within the Office of
Development, documenting current and future processes, and providing insights and recommendations
to help drive the extraordinary growth in donor philanthropy at USF, with an emphasis on business
process improvement, standardization, and documentation. The Business Analyst reports to the
Systems Data Analyst Manager.
The Business Analyst will work within their team as well as collaborate with Advanced Data Analytics
across the Development Division and with campus units such as Information Technology Services (ITS)
to capture and document new & revised business processes, conduct fit/gap analysis, and make
recommendations for next steps, facilitate meetings, communicate with stakeholders, and project
manages relevant initiatives.
Full Job Description:
Collaboration
- Partner with Data Analyst Managers and business leads across the division to convert business expectations into data analysis project plans. The position will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and our data science talent to enable desired outcomes that drive fundraising strategy and results.
- Support in-take of projects and data, systems and analytics tasks as assigned. Follow up on tasks as needed using strong organizational and communication skills.
- Collaborate on development of training materials and as applicable, train colleagues in Salesforce general navigation
Analysis
- Analyze and evaluate potential new training opportunities on divisional systems tools to mobilize more advanced use of database tool and systems across the division
- Identify business requirements around processes and systems that need adjustment and improvement
- Understand and document how business processes interact and are supported through existing and new system integrations
Project Management
- Maintain business process analysis & system protocols by writing and updating procedures.
- Maintain test scripts with business and serve as project manager for database upgrades and testing strategy, along with other users who will test proposed changes in functionality
- Define business requirements by validating project milestones, phases, elements & tasks; monitor business analysis progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, recommending actions
- Support users and groups in gathering business requirements (including financial and operational impact analysis)
Advising and Training
- Document standard operating procedures and technical or business process specifications for new operational processes
- Provide training & reference material for users by writing and maintaining user documentation.
- Support operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; maintaining knowledge of best practices and tools in similar markets and organizations
- With support from ITS and your manager, design current & future processes by analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts and diagrams, studying system capabilities, writing specifications, creating change management process and execute on communication plans to ensure successful integration and adoption
- Improve systems and processes by studying current practices, identifying gaps and areas of improvement, and recommending modifications
- Identify controls for existing problems, writing improved procedures, communicating changes, and providing training as needed
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional development opportunities

Qualifications & Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree, with a preference for degrees in Business or IT related field
- 1+ years relevant project management or nonprofit experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Ability to creatively seek solutions, navigate ambiguity and change, resolve conflict using thoughtful and clear decision-making. Oriented toward acting and seeking resolution.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle difficult problems and interact with senior/executive management and external/internal stakeholders with confidence and tact.
- Exceptional organization skills required with experience in project planning, analysis and/or business process mapping
- Proficiency with various software, including the Microsoft & Google suite and other tools to manage projects effectively (Asana, SmartSheets, Lucidchart, etc.).
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRMs
- Humility, creativity, curiosity, generosity, humor, empathy, willingness to listen and respect for diversity
- Although not required, preference may be given to candidates with additional relevant skills such as SQL coding languages/logic, experience with technical evaluation, and/or new Software implementation projects

Salary Range :
The salary for this position is $62,000 - $72,000 annually. Offers will be made on candidate experience, education, and equity within the University of San Francisco.
