The St Paul Public Schools is seeking to hire an Audiologist.
Qualified candidates for this position should possess a passion for working in an urban, independent school district with the following qualifications.
Master¿s degree in Audiology
Certified Audiologist
Direct work experience in administering, analyzing and interpreting audiologic tests for children and youth, ages Birth to 21.
Highly collaborative disposition and able to successfully partner across departments within the school district and with agencies outside the district to provide high quality, appropriate educational audiology services.
Work experience in fitting, adjusting and making minor repairs on hearing technology.
Strong belief in St. Paul¿s culturally and linguistically diverse parents and caregivers as assets and partners in student success. Able to provide culturally sensitive counsel related to hearing loss and hearing management within an educational setting.
Commitment to a personal racial equity journey within the context of the mission and vision of SPPS and the Office of Specialized Services.
Experience with accessing resources, including language interpreters, to help linguistically and culturally diverse families and students understand the impact of hearing loss on educational progress.
Knowledge of child development across the Birth to 21 age span.
Knowledge of classroom acoustics and measurements.
Knowledge of the fundamentals of the IEP/IFSP special education process including eligibility for special education services related to hearing loss.
Doctoral Degree in Audiology, or enrolled in Doctoral program in Audiology.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provision of diagnostic audiologic services, habilitative and educational planning, and periodic reviews for children with normal hearing and hearing loss from Birth through 21 years of age, including those with multiple handicaps. Duties will vary including audiologic management of children with all types of hearing loss in all educational settings.
Management of remote microphone systems to include assignment, fitting, troubleshooting, minor repairs, facilitating major repair and service, making earmold impressions and ordering earmolds, ordering and distributing related supplies.
Training school personnel and parents/caregivers regarding the educational effects of hearing loss, classroom acoustics, hearing technology and remote microphone monitoring.
Participation in educational management decisions regarding deaf and hard of hearing students.
Assist, advise and partner with school nurses regarding identification and management of hearing loss.
Communicate audiologic and other related information to families, school personnel and collaborate with community professionals.
Able to lift and transport required audiology equipment to school sites. Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, move, stand and sit in a variety of positions. Adequate vision skills for reading audiology equipment and reports. Adequate hearing to listen to hearing aids and assistive technology.

This is a 10-month position working 40 hours per week.
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Teachers negotiated labor agreement. The labor agreement and salary schedule can be found at https://www.spps.org/Page/33566. The minimum rate of pay for this position is $49,181 annually.
