Job Description


The VP, Strategy leads a Strategy team on a single large or several small-medium accounts. This person reports into the SVP, Client Lead. The VP, Strategy owns the client relationship and account management. This role works closely with cross-functional leadership, drives the planning process, guarantees timelines are met, compiles and organizes agency deliverables, and ensures cross-functional teams are consulted and informed.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge

  • Pharma media experience across a diverse set of conditions, disease states, and audiences (DTC, HCP, Payer, etc.)
  • Some perspective beyond Pharma to bring best practices for media across audiences and channels (e.g. CPG, retail)
  • Understands the total marketing process and the strategic role of media
  • Contributes to thought leadership in the form of POV’s
  • Can analyze output from media research tools and software
  • Approaches planning from a holistic, media-agnostic perspective
  • Proactively self-educates on PHM, Publicis Groupe, and client business functions, capabilities, tools, and processes

Managing & Leading Others

  • Responsible for day-to-day oversight of the Strategy team
  • Responsible for Strategy team adherence to roles, responsibilities, and processes
  • Builds trust, models inclusion, and shows respect for all employees
  • Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Provides clear communication on business initiatives and client requests
  • Ensures teams are properly trained on tools and processes
  • Ensures new hires are properly and thoroughly on-boarded and trained
  • Drives adherence to PHM processes and best practices
  • Participates in formal development process, including performance management, goal-setting, mid- and yearly reviews
  • Nurtures and develops mid-level and lower-level talent on assigned accounts
  • Participates in PHM’s interviewing efforts
  • Contributes to PHM's culture

Strategy & Account Management

  • Owns overall media strategy, approach, and plan on each account
  • Drives the planning process
  • Oversees Strategy team in developing clients’ media strategies
  • Owns strategic questions and concerns related to the client’s media efforts
  • Collaborates with internal cross-functional leaders to ensure strategic alignment of deliverables with client needs
  • Represents the interests of cross-functional teams in client and agency partner meetings where those teams are absent
  • Develops deliverables timelines in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Pushes for continuous improvement of self, team, and client deliverables
  • Provides a point of escalation

Organic Growth and New Business

  • Executes EVP’s business plan and organic growth plan
  • Volunteers for pitch teams, task forces, side hustles, etc.
  • Encourages team to incorporate new agency initiatives into recommendations
  • Assists Client Lead in scoping client work with Business Management

Client Service

  • Responsible for day-to-day relationships with clients and agency partners
  • Conveys passion for clients and their businesses
  • Works with clients to shape their marketing priorities
  • Takes initiative in developing new client relationships
  • Models outstanding client service for team
  • Drives professional, impactful standards within team for all written and verbal contact with clients; 'gold-standard' writer and presenter
  • Serves as point of escalation for client concerns

Education and Experience

  • 10+ years media experience
  • 6+ years management experience preferred
  • Deep cross-channel media knowledge and experience
  • Familiarity with standard media research and planning tools (e.g. Clear Decisions)
  • Pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • BA/BS; advanced degree a plus

Additional Information


Compensation Range: $121,000 - $191,000 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
