Under the direction of the Excess Team Lead, execute business unit strategy for the Pacific Region which includes the San Francisco, San Ramon, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Newport Beach, San Diego and Phoenix offices. Product line responsibilities include general liability and supported umbrella with ancillary workers compensation and auto coverages. As a member of the regional Excess Umbrella, contribute to profitable underwriting results through the growth, selection, development, servicing and underwriting of general casualty & products, energy, renewable energy, construction and environmental industry-specific business. This position is responsible for contributing to profit and production goals, meeting branch administrative standards, and being an active participate on the regional team. The position requires extensive marketing and collaboration with other Chubb business units and is located in Chubb’s Los Angeles Branch.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:
Solicit new and renewal submissions from agents and brokers – the underwriter is responsible for a $800,000 annual new business production goal and is responsible for an $15 million book of business
Execute regional marketing and sales strategies including prospecting, cross sell and upsell initiatives
Determine terms, conditions and pricing using complex rating plans, underwriting guidelines and staying within authority levels
Work collaboratively with Manager, Underwriting Associate and other unit and region colleagues
Document underwriting files thoroughly and accurately
Handle accounts and portfolio of business within underwriting authority
Adhere to all underwriting standards and guidelines as outlined by the Division including all applicable Underwriting Guidelines, Authorities and Position Papers
Adhere to guidelines for accurate and timely policy issuance, accurate premium booking and billing, manuscript form and endorsement processes, and file construction and documentation
Local, regular agency and broker travel
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant underwriting experience.
The additional responsibilities can include but are not limited to any of the following:
Coach/mentor, serve as a training resource for junior members of the UW team
Marketing or administrative responsibility such as updating agency assignments, pulling financials or management reports as delegated by the CI manager
Handle a portfolio of accounts outside of own resident branch (expanded geographic influence)
Maintain a Client Executive (CE) role for a key branch account(s)
Assume/maintain an agency manager role
Lead production or key account management meetings for the CI team
Support the corporate self-audit program and/or serve as a corporate audit program resource
Take referrals/provide UW coaching to other UW's in the region in areas commensurate with their skill
Serve as champion for branch/region initiatives i.e., cross sell, product lines/industry practices
Consistent demonstration of high level sales acumen in addition to UW acumen; consistent high level new business contributor
Subject Matter Expert/Liaison to provide support and act as a conduit to other stakeholders such as Risk Engineering, Audit, Ops, other Business Units, etc.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of the casualty insurance industry
Demonstrated proficiency with all manner of technology
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

The pay range for the role is $60,000 to $99,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
