What you’ll do:

The Custom Order Engineer is responsible for accurately interpreting customer specifications/drawings and translate them into drawings and bills-of-material understandable by external customers as well as internal customers in Manufacturing, Purchasing and Technical Services.

• Identify and design special fabricated parts or assemblies using 2-D CAD modeling systems.
• Verify that complete and accurate order entry information has been received from field sales and/or channel partners on incoming panelboard orders and provide support on post order entry issues.
• Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products.
• Reconciles pricing and lead time requests of incoming orders, using information supplied through proprietary pricing and configuration tool (Bid Manager), order entry and invoicing system (Vista) and other communications.
• Consult with Plant and Field Sales Engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications.
• Perform technical training for the plant Product Sales Engineers and Technicians.
• Participate with cross functional teams in implementing lean manufacturing strategies, including process improvement.
• Verifies that the plant's manufacturing capabilities can support lead-time requests.
• Provides input to R&D department on new product application needs, designs and design refinements.
• Adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement.
• Fulfill customer orders in a timely manner and follow established procedures to complete assigned projects.
• Comply with safety and industrial hygiene requirements and keep assigned work-area clean and organized per 5S standards.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution OR currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree Engineering program with an expected graduation date by May 2023.
• Experience with 2D CAD software.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Experience with order entry and pricing and configuration tools and/or electronic file storage systems.
• Experience with MRP/ERP Systems (i.e. AS-400).
• Technical and application knowledge of panelboards.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem-solving skills.
