    POSITION(s) OVERVIEW

    During the scheduled summer program dates vacation will not be approved. If you have a conflict, please do not apply. Any time lost due to staff absences may result in termination from the summer program.
    • Hourly Rate: $55/hour

    High School Enrichment
    Driver's Ed Teacher needed. Students attending this program will be earning additional high school credit for course advancement.
    Grade: 10
    Dates: June 26, 2023 through July 20, 2023 (Mondays through Thursdays); In-service days to be determined.
    Location: Odessa High School
    Hours: 8:00AM-11:00AM & 12:30PM-2:30PM

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provides safe and encouraging learning environment to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
    • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and an atmosphere that promotes student learning.
    • Establishes and maintains a positive, collaborative rapport and communication with students, school personnel and parents.
    • Establishes and maintains student control and discipline in the classroom, school premises or during school activities by communicating expectations of appropriate behavior.
    • Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect consistent with district policies and procedures.
    • Plans and uses classroom time effectively.
    • Implements School Board and school-based policies and procedures in order to uphold school regulations.
    • Integrates technology in instruction.
    • Communicates curriculum and student related information effectively in oral and written form.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Summer School Leaders.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Below are the qualifications for this position:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Hold or eligible for State of Delaware teacher certification in subject matter to be taught.
    • Strong skills in instructional and behavior management strategies appropriate for diverse learners.
    • Must be proficient with technology and follow best practices for online instruction.
    • Must have access to reliable internet from home site.
    • Past satisfactory evaluations.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of subject content, curriculum, methodology of effective teaching.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
    • Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents.
    • Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

    PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
    The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom.

    PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
    • All persons employed by the Appoquinimink School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
    • Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver’s License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
