Job Description

Duties

The Design and Construction Division is responsible for providing expertise and technical support for the planning, design, repair and alteration, modernization, build-to-suit leased facilities and federal building construction. This position will provide full-service consultant, workplace strategy/interior design and collaboration to customer agencies and internal organizational partners on workplace and interior design needs on complex projects throughout the region.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops, plans, and assigns work to subordinate staff and contractors; directs the use of personnel funds and equipment; and is held accountable for attaining program objectives.
  • Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, considering the diffi culty and requirements of assignments and the capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluates work performance of subordinates and appraises staff performance. Provides advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Implements policies, procedures, guidance and control impacting branch activities and approves leave for subordinates.

The GS-14 salary range starts at 144,017.00 per year.

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

Basic Requirements:

Undergraduate and Graduate Education:
Major study - interior design or other field that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in interior design, interior architecture, or interior environmental design; OR passage of the National Council for Interior Design Qualifi cation (NCIDQ) examination.

To qualify, you must meet the basic requirements and have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience providing full-serviceconsultant, workplace strategy/interior design and collaboration to customer agencies and internal organizational partners on workplace and interior design needs on complex projects. Such experience must include:

  • Providing technical guidance and oversight on complex projects in the delivery of workplace strategy, interior design and space planning projects;
  • Monitoring and directing the technical execution of space planning/interior design program requirements;
  • Providing leadership in the management, direction, guidance and coordination of interior design functions and implementation of the workplace/interior design program across a portfolio of projects, such as majornew construction, modernizations, lease construction, renovations, and repair and alteration of commercial offi ce/high rise buildings;
  • Planning, prioritizing and evaluating work to be accomplished by subordinates/team members; and
  • Providing advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

  • Ability to maintain liaison with high ranking officials and/or managers, operating elements of the organization.
  • Skill to work closely with and maintain effective verbal and written communication with representatives of other offices, other government agencies, officials of private industry, and contracting firms.
