Job Description:

Forge is seeking an Accounting professional to join our growing corporate operations team. Reporting to Executive Leadership, this position is responsible for ensuring that the business's financial accounting activities are performed accurately and in compliance with GAAP and relevant government contracting compliance regulations. This role will help shape the internal accounting function to scale with continued business growth.

The Candidate must be able to think strategically, act tactically, and display strong analytical and critical thinking skills. They must also build strong cross-group working relationships and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. The Candidate must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

The Accounting Team is responsible for managing all financial accounting and government cost accounting activities for Forge. The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Data entry for accounts payable and the general ledger
  • Running reconciliations against supporting schedules (e.g., prepaid, deferred revenue, depreciation/amortization)
  • Supporting the monthly accounting close process
  • Preparing and reviewing reports
  • Presenting solutions and results in a clear, concise, and audience-appropriate manner
  • Setting up new vendors, clients, employees, and projects in Unanet (the financial database)
  • Processing ACH vendor payments as required
  • Preparing limited business property tax filings for applicable states
  • Assisting the accounts receivable accounting staff with tasks like invoicing and expense report reconciliations
  • Implementing, documenting, and maintaining adequate and effective internal control policies and procedures
  • Driving process improvements around the efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy of month-end close and reporting cycles
  • Responsibility for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations (GAAP, FAR, CAS, SBA 8(a), tax, etc.)
  • Assisting with external audits, regulatory filings, year-end financial audits, and tax preparation.
  • Providing finance-based support, training, and process guidance for all staff questions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • A minimum of 3 (or more) years of direct experience in accounting operations
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP regulations
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Demonstrated experience with Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership to identify and solve problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of FAR, CAS, and SBA regulations
  • Experience with Unanet and/or Payroll Network/iSolved is a plus.
