Job Description


The Underwriting Data & Reporting Analyst will aggregate and analyze underwriting and actuarial data across Fortegra’s system platforms. The scope includes all segments of Fortegra’s Warranty business (Consumer Products, Automotive and Wireless) and other lines of business as assigned. Will also assist with the construction, production and maintenance of regular sales and profitability reporting. Supports reporting tools and data querying capabilities for Underwriting, Actuarial, Account Management, Sales, and other interested parties. This position will report to the Underwriting Data and Reporting Manager.


  • Interpret data, analyze results using BI tools and provide ongoing reports.
  • Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial, Account Management, Sales, and IT to develop a more effective reporting inventory and reporting capabilities.
  • Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial, Account Management, Sales, and IT to identify and report key metrics to Sales team to help increase new business opportunities and show trends in what we underwrite and what we should be targeting from a risk perspective.
  • Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial and Account Management to identify changes to account-level data reporting and processing to ensure necessary data is collected to allow for effective analysis by the Underwriters and Actuaries.
  • Support Underwriting and Actuarial to address data integrity and validation issues.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filter and clean data by using BI tools, reviewing reports and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.

Qualifications
  • BS in Computer Science or Information Management
  • Experience in a data analyst role or similar position
  • Knowledge of and experience with Tableau
  • Knowledge of and experience with SQL databases
  • Proficient at writing queries, report creation and presenting findings
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
