POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs duties of Laboratory Registration Representative I at an advanced level of competency and efficiency. Ensures information is accurately entered into the laboratory systems to support effective specimen processing, billing and result distribution. Contributes to the effective operation of clerical and customer support functions within the laboratory by verifying patient information ensuring accurate and timely delivery of results and responding to customer inquiries and requests. Requires knowledge of both registration functions and systems as well as basic knowledge of laboratory testing. This position reports to the Business Offices Manager, and takes direction from the Laboratory Business Office Coordinator. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Requires one year experience as a Laboratory Registration Representative I or clinical laboratory experience
- Requires the ability to build familiarity with medical terminology and an understanding of registration practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Some college
- Previous laboratory registration and/or billing experience
- Previous medical, financial services and/or customer service work experience
- Additional related education and/or experience
