HDR Engineering is seeking an entry level Railroad Bridge EIT to join our team in Missoula, MT. The Railroad Bridge EIT will perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer in support of bridge design projects.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, we'll count on you to perform engineering design under the direction of a Professional Engineer for retaining walls, railroad bridges, and other structural features of railroad projects.

Specifically, assignments may include:

Conduct analyses and perform calculations to develop design options and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for structural engineering projects.

Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.

Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects.

Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.

Assist with railroad bridge inspections or assist in the review of railroad bridge construction.

Perform other duties as needed.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Experience with MS Office, AutoCAD or Microstation, and Finite Element Analysis software

Strong understanding of structural analysis and mechanics of materials.

Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.

Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment.

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Structural Engineering.

EIT or ability to obtain within 12 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of Rail Bridge Designer and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.

Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: MathCAD, LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, MIDAS Civil, MDX, SAP2000, LARSA, CSiBridge, ADINA, RM Bridge, spColumn, LUSAS, Visual Analysis DEEPEX.

Experience or training in bridge/structural design.

Strong preference given to local candidates.
