Position Summary:

Individual is responsible to develop plans that will help to ensure customer delivery commitments are met and production schedules optimize the use of available resources. These plans include but are not limited to, material input, shop schedule, supplier services and requesting the appropriate resources from the manufacturing group. Support Production Control Manager to plan resources, manpower, and schedules for all work packages in the machine shop including first run prototypes, tooling, repairs, and production orders. Develop (planning) and facilitate (expedite) production schedule as required to meet need dates and shipment plans. Communicate schedule status and commitments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for coordinating the timely release or work orders to Production, utilizing Contract Review and Materials Requirements Planning.
  
  • Participate in coordination of the company's production plans and strategies with Production, Engineering, Purchasing and Quality Departments.
  • Work with the Inventory Control Coordinator in assembly kitting, inventory control, cycle counting, materials processing, work order generation, release and splitting.
  • Communicates all plans and changes to appropriate members of the production team.
  • Participates in Contract Review, MRB & Production Meetings.
  • Responsible for generation of, and updates to detailed, controlled Work Instructions for all planning activities.
  • Responsible for assuring that assigned activities are performed in accordance with company Quality System procedures.
  • Back up packaging and shipping as needed during peak times.
• Drive and support continuous improvement concepts and practices
  
  • Assist in Physical Inventory from planning stages through completion in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and take an active role in follow through of Production Support improvement activities.
  • Coordinate timely issue of raw material including but not limited to review of machine queues and lining up work for bar stock and saw, expediting receipt of goods.
  • Assist with coordination, logistics and expediting of outside sourcing efforts.
    
  
  

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  
  • APIC (American Production and Inventory Control) Certification and/or Training
• Experience in production control/expediting/planning
• Experience with Global Shop, JobBoss, Syteline, or other machine shop planning and control software Previous Experience with Global Shop ERP preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management preferred.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to express concepts effectively, both written and verbal.
  
  • Broad knowledge of machine processes and the use of manufacturing travelers.
  • Ability to communicate, organize and plan department resources.
  • Strong knowledge of shop floor and inventory control databases.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Project.
