Who We Are
Our team, Project & Product Strategy Office (PPSO), is a valuable part of Volvo Group Trucks North America.

The function is responsible for:
  • Technology strategies
  • Strategic product planning
  • Key Account role for GTT towards Renault Trucks, Volvo Trucks, and Mack Trucks.
  • Project management of Intro Blocks
  • Maximizing technology and product synergies across the Volvo Group
  • Capturing opportunities to apply public and private partnerships to accelerate innovation

Within the PPSO team, you will have the opportunity to work in projects developing the future vehicles and services in the Conventional Range.

What You Will be Doing
As a Product Planning Manager your mission will be developing strategic directions for select projects in the portfolio. You will contribute to the creation of the product plans by championing a business mindset in the product projects and acting as an expert in your product and customers.

You will build a successful product segment portfolio that:
  • Drives profitable growth in responsible truck markets and segments
  • Leads the prerequisite development thru deep understanding of the transport needs, trends, and improved competitiveness
  • Captures global platform advantages
  • Meets market needs through multibrand offerings
  • Supports the business strategy and ambitions

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Product plan and budget work
    • Propose product plans and associated budget in cooperation with stakeholders
    • Initiate product changes of the Portfolio to secure that a complete and competitive offer aligned with the strategic direction is available
  • Project work
    • Conduct product planning investigations
    • Lead creation of project prerequisites
    • Prepare and present project decision material for area of responsibility.
    • Clearly identify customer needs and facilitate fact-based trade-offs during design discussions in order to optimize the product offerings.
  • Preparation of the future
    • Create and maintain specific vehicle, component, vehicle related soft products area roadmaps for all areas included in the product portfolio.
    • Analyze drivers of change from a Society, Technology, Competitor, and Customer perspective and identify product priorities
    • Establish relationships and spend time with customers to understand business through both formal and informal activities.
    • Continuously build expert customer and industry knowledge through various events and activities.

Who You Are
You are an engineering professional with an excitement for utilizing your product knowledge alongside with your excellent business skills to build out product plans for the Volvo & Mack products. Fulfilling our customers’ needs is what drives you and your ability to remove obstacles and influence a positive outcome has made you successful in your career. You understand the importance of communication and have an ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your drive to deliver results and ability to do so in a clear, structured fashion are valuable traits in this role.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred
  • 5–10+ years of trucking industry-related experience
  • 1–2+ years of product planning/market research analysis experience
  • Knowledge of competitors and customer business in the heavy-duty truck market
  • Experience in sales/marketing of heavy-duty trucks preferred
  • International business or Aftermarket experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel
