The Patient Account Representative is responsible for insurance balances. Works daily with insurance companies handling unresolved inquiries/issues/denials with payers. Responsible for reviewing invoices and contact various insurance companies for payment on outstanding claims in a timely manner for physician charges. Manage and process Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial claims on 1500/UB04 through the payers’ website. Submit reconsideration/appeals with supportive documentations as appropriate according to coding and specific insurance policies and procedures. Review correspondence and remittance for rejections and resolve as appropriate.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of (6:30am - 6:00pm). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review all correspondence from the home office
  • Follow up on assigned insurance accounts.
  • Assist all hospital employees with any needs that arise.
  • Make outgoing insurance calls.
  • Our ideal candidate is an adept communicator, deadline oriented, and self-motivated, with excellent follow-up and customer service skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • 1+ Medicare and Medicaid payer experience
  • 1+ years in medical insurance billing and follow up experience
  • Basic Proficiency with Windows PC applications and Microsoft Office (create, edit, format Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of (6:30am - 6:00pm). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in a medical/healthcare

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
