SUMMARY: The Paraeducator - Instructional Support position supports the classroom teacher in daily classroom instruction of students, including such areas as; general content, remediation, intervention, enrichment, and extension activities. Responsibilities vary with the individual assignment, but typically include tutoring students, supporting student discipline, preparing materials, providing testing proctoring/assistance, and assisting the teacher with record keeping.
ABOUT CHIEF LESCHI SCHOOLS: Formerly known as the Puyallup Tribal School, Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200+ tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least eighteen years of age
Possess a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (GED) and
Two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter hours); or an Associate’s degree (or higher); or a passing score (461) on a state local Para assessment exam.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of traditional Native American cultures and values
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field
Recent previous para-educator experience
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful criminal background clearance
Successful and/or clear drug screening
Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
