Green Top Farms was founded by a farmer-turned-public-school-teacher who was troubled by the lack of fresh, nutritious foods for many New York families. For the last seven years we have built a high volume food service, catering and delivery business. Throughout that time we have remained deeply involved in working to provide better food resources and education for school children, food pantries, and the broader community. We have also pursued our vision for a more sustainable and equitable food system. We spent the majority of our energies during the COVID Pandemic serving NYC City Agencies in the provision of food for the underserved, as well as non-profit agencies throughout NYC.

Our mission is to build a more sustainable and equitable food system, starting by reconnecting consumers and local farmers. We believe the results of strengthening that connection are better nutrition, more tasty food, greater social justice, and reduced environmental impacts. Our menus reflect this attention to bringing nutritious, delicious food to those who need it most.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create, review, update, and communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations. Act as Subject Matter Expert for internal HR policy interpretation.
  • Takes ownership of professional development and oversees recruitment by identifying candidate sources, strategic planning and partnering with sources and unit management to identify talent from new hires through promotions.
  • Oversee payroll processes including time sheets review, deductions and discrepancies regarding breaks in a timely manner.
  • Manage FMLA process, facilitate ADA requests. Maintain FMLA recordkeeping & eligibility tracking etc., respond to WC claims & manage processes.
  • Partners with management on employee relations issues including but not limited to: terminations, investigations, disciplinary action and documentation, and exit interviews
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance. Unemployment claims administration. Attend unemployment hearings if necessary.
  • Ensure employee files are compliant, maintain/review/update completed job descriptions, maintain affirmative action program; file annual EEO-1 report as applicable; maintain other records, reports & logs to comply w/EEO & OSHA regulations.
  • Oversee administration and execution of Green Top Farms Benefits Program including, new employee and annual open enrollment, and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Stay abreast of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Perform annual organization-wide compensation reviews, including evaluation of company’s bonus programs; provide management recommendations to ensure competitive compensation packages
  • Supervises a small People Operations team

Who You Are:

  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID with proof of vaccination (Required)
  • 3+ years of experience as a HR Manager, preferably in the F&B industry, capable of leading a small people operations team
  • Proven ability to foster strong relationships with all levels of management and staff.
  • Knowledge of federal and New York State, New Jersey and New York City employment laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of employee benefits programs
  • A self-starter, efficient and problem-solver spirit, multi-tasking skills
  • Interest in being part of a growing company bringing a fresh take on office catering, school foods and pre-packaged meals
