Job Summary
The Brain Tumor Center Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:
  • Joining a growing team committed to the care of patients diagnosed with brain and spinal cord tumors, ages infancy to young adult.
  • Partnering with Neurosurgeons, Neuro-Oncologists, Neurologists, Radiation Oncologists, Nurses, Administrative Staff and other pediatric subspecialists to provide care across a variety of settings including inpatient and ambulatory.
  • Providing new patient consultation to the medical/surgical teams on the inpatient neuroscience unit and medical/surgical ICUs, during the early stages of diagnosis and post-operative period and treatment.
  • Enhancing continuity of care, facilitate and coordinate a comprehensive plan of care, engaging in frequent contact with patients and families to provide anticipatory guidance for their care needs across the continuum.
  • Attending weekly outpatient multidisciplinary clinics at both Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Responsibilities include: medical histories, patient assessments, physical exams, performing procedures, symptom management, establishing a plan of care, inpatient rounding, attending tumor board and case conferences
  • Participating in and support ongoing research studies occurring with the Brain Tumor Center.
  • Working 40 hours per week: four 10 hour days, Monday through Friday

To qualify, you must have
  • A Master’s degree in Nursing
  • A current MA NP license (FNP or PNP)
  • 5+ years of pediatric RN experience
  • 2-3 years of Neuroscience or Oncology nursing experience preferred
  • 2-3 years of Advanced Practice experience assisting in the care coordination of patients with complex medical conditions, strongly preferred
  • Professional certification preferred or willingness to pursue (CNRN, CPHON)

**Sign-on bonus of $5,000.00 for full-time (40 hours) NP hires (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
