The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. POSITION DETAILS

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located in APD’s Central Region In Orlando, FL.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employees of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. This includes, but is not limited to, always acting in a responsive, professional, courteous manner with the employees, customers, and public we serve at all times.


Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

This is a responsible professional position which involves monitoring the Agency for Persons with Disabilities group homes monthly which requires travel to licensed group homes. An employee in this position is responsible for performing the following:


Conducting monthly monitoring visits to assigned group homes, or more frequently, as directed, using the agency approved monitoring tool. Participates in Operation Spot Check Visits as requested. Identifies deficiencies and prepares Notices of Non-Compliance and/or administrative complaints.


Provides follow up by assessing corrective action for completion, and reporting lack of compliance to supervisor. Translates findings into the appropriate administrative disciplinary level.


Provides follow up on Abuse Reports, Incident Reports, and any other reports as assigned.


Provides technical assistance to each provider as required. Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings, monthly meetings with Supervisor, Monitors, Medical Case Management Staff, Residential Planning Coordinators, and Area Behavior Analysts. Attends Group Home Workshops and other meetings as required.


Performs other assigned duties as required.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to: Plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively with clients and other agencies; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; actively listen to others. Ability to regularly access the internet. Ability to work independently in an organized manner.
  • Knowledge of: Microsoft Office software experience

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel up to 500-700 miles per month to group homes and work-related purposes.
  • Ability to work independently in an organized manner.
  • Ability to regularly access the internet.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office and Excel.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

Pursuant to S. 110.1127(1), Florida Statutes, this position requires a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
