New Alternatives, Inc. is a private nonprofit agency which has provided a wide range of services to children, youth and families in San Diego and Orange Counties since 1978. Therapeutic services include residential, outpatient, day treatment, crisis support and in-home support services.

Current Openings: Mental Health Worker (MHW)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, typically 9:30 am -6:00 pm, 10:00 am-6:30 pm or 10:30 am -7:00 pm.

Pay: $17-$20 per hour.

Responsibilities: Exciting opportunity to be involved in the direct care and therapeutic engagement with adolescent clients, who identify female, placed in a 9 bed short term residential therapeutic program (STRTP)/residential setting. The youth are placed in out of home placements for a variety of reasons. Often the youth have experienced trauma, usually chronic and/or complex trauma and are in need of this higher level of care. Placements are usually six months to one year.

A MHW would be directly responsible for facilitating group sessions, individual sessions, case management and engaging in intensive care coordination. Teaching, mentoring, coaching, building pro-social and adaptive coping skills is a daily function of the position within the milieu, creating groups and 1:1 with the clients.

MHW will work on a team, comprised of clinical and residential staff to provide a safe, healing and therapeutic milieu. MHW will complete Medi-Cal documentation of services in an electronic health record (Cerner).

Qualifications/Requirements:

· Bachelors degree is required and preferred, one year direct experience, working with at risk youth in STRTP/residential settings, school based programs, outpatient mental health services, day treatment settings, etc.

· Experience in the field is a plus.

· This position is full time with benefits.
