JOB SUMMARY:
The Marketing Program Specialist serves as the lead for large-scale marketing programs designed to attract and retain new members and grow the Michigan First brand across the communities we serve. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic plans, setting goals, securing opportunities for presentations through networking and other tactics, overseeing promotions, securing and managing relationships with high schools, colleges and businesses. This role serves as the lead for conducting financial literacy presentations, managing social media content and participating in media appearances. This position will be largely dedicated to the Credit Union’s Money Mentor program, but responsibilities may also extend to other high priority campaigns and initiatives.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the Credit Union’s Marketing team to develop and execute strategic plans, goals and objectives.
- Develop relevant and engaging content, geared toward 17–30-year-old members for the Credit Union’s social media channels. Monitor engagement and audience growth and report results.
- Research and evaluate available advertising and promotional opportunities, make recommendations and coordinate opportunities.
- Create and manage long-term goals for the Money Mentor program. Report results to marketing leadership.
- Coordinate advertising, promotional activities, events, and presentations with third parties.
- Leverage exceptional interpersonal skills to network and develop connections with schools, clubs, and organizations in our local communities, with the end goal of securing new and recurring Money Mentor presentations.
- Serve as the main point of contact for inquiries related to the Money Mentor program.
- Capture and share professional-quality video about relevant topics including: our products, life hacks, fun activities and ways to save money.
- Research, secure and coordinate media appearances. Serve as the program’s primary media representative for interviews.
- Attend events as a program representative; pass out literature and promotional products, answer questions and promote the Credit Union and the program.
- Write and edit content for use within blogs, newsletters and emails.
- Shoot and edit photos for use on the website and social media.
- Becomes/is an advocate of The Michigan First Way, supporting all facets including complete fulfillment of Our Promise, 5 STARS Service, SOLVE IT and our ISMs. Fosters a positive demeanor and image through professional representation in all contact with team members and members. Consistently reflects and displays each of our ISMs in daily job performance, as well as in all business interactions while delivering on our goals and initiatives. Learns and utilizes EMEC (Every Member’s Experience Counts) in day-to-day responsibilities when communicating with members only.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to use the Adobe Creative Suite is a huge plus (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Social media savvy. Oversee content development and grow the audience.
- Experience shooting and editing video (using Premiere or equivalent). Experience in front of the camera is a huge plus.
- Strong presentation skills. Ability to effectively share information and “sell ideas.”
- Outstanding relationship building and communication skills. Must have top-notch interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively across all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and keen eye for accuracy when proofreading copy and ability to identify spelling, grammatical and other errors to produce accurate and high-quality work.
- Excellent organizational skills. Strong time-management skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, with little oversight.
- A team player. Works well in a collaborative team environment with tight deadlines.
- A self-starter. Proven ability and experience managing projects from start to finish.
- In-State travel up to 20% of the time for presentations (Mainly southeast Michigan, Grand Rapids, and Lansing area)
