Monday -Thursday | 4pm-9:30pm
Saturday | as needed


Under the general supervision of Manager, Library and Information Services, performs a variety of duties including selection, circulation and maintenance of library materials; cataloging, classifying, and access of library materials. Work is generally varied using established procedures requiring judgment and the making of minor decisions and performs routine work independently with interaction with the supervisor for problems.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists students, faculty and staff with questions, requests and initiates problem resolution. Duties include library material checking in/out, searching and retrieving materials from other libraries, assisting with study rooms, answering phone calls and providing information.
  • Maintains the journals/magazine collection; communicates with vendors to ensure accurate source collection and records.
  • Maintains library collection records for existing book/DVD collection and creates new bib, item and purchase orders; processes new and existing library items; creates acquisition records and reconciles inventory invoices.
  • Collaborates with staff and faculty to update reserve records/section in the library.
  • Maintain professional currency. Characteristic duties would include: reading professional publications and discussing important developments in the profession with colleagues; maintaining memberships in professional organizations and participating in conferences, webinars, and other collaborations.
  • Serves as a resource for student inquiries of library system (Millennium) and the school system (Cosmo); reconciles library accounts; incur charges and adjustments in compliance with library rules and regulations; consult accounting for reconciliation resolution.
  • Assists students by providing problem resolution with computers; class issues; software applications including Blackboard, Microsoft Office Suite programs; class schedules; financial aid applications; homework that uses web-based platforms; computer support equipment; and audio/visual systems.
  • Participates in in-service training, workshops and other educational activities as required or assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Associate’s or Technical degree And
  • Two (2) years of occupational experience in an academic library preferred; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the Dewey decimal classification, Library of Congress subject headings and Anglo-American Cataloging Rules 2 (AACR2).
  • Knowledge of college supported computer operating systems, application software, and hardware.

Employee Benefits at a Glance - PART-TIME FACULTY/EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT- Part-time employee pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees.

HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types:
1- UMR High Level PPO
2- UMR Low Level PPO

Note: All medical plans include Prescription Drug benefits at no additional costs to employees.

DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.

Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.

GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.8%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.8% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.

SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.

VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)

PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
