Purpose
A Legal Assistant assists and provides a range of legal support and administration to lawyers and other legal professionals engaged in the firm’s practice of representing financial institutions in bankruptcy, collections, foreclosure, litigation, and residential real estate or mortgage law.

Specific Duties, Activities and Responsibilities
Assisting attorneys in the representation of clients in litigation or bankruptcy proceedings including, but not limited to, the following duties:
  • Perform legal, factual and records research.
  • Organize, analyze and cross-check/validate information.
  • Prepare written reports.
  • Draft and file legal documents including pleadings, briefs, motions and agreements.
  • Prepare correspondence.
  • Proof legal forms and documents for accuracy.
  • Perform SCRA and PACER searches.
  • Process calls, faxes, e-mails, and paper mail
  • Organize and track case files and all pertinent deadlines
  • Monitor and handle judgment related tasks for the judicial foreclosure caseload assigned
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma required.
  • At least 3 years experience working as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
  • Paralegal certificate a plus but not required. Prefer knowledge of multi-state process of service in a judicial environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal principles, legal research techniques and legal terminology.
  • In depth knowledge of government regulations.
  • Relevant computer knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent research, analytical, critical thinking skills.
