The Lead Teacher is responsible for the coordination of an assigned age group(s), which includes: planning, developing and implementing developmental learning activities and work under the direct supervision of Home Ties Child Care and Development Director.
The successful candidate must have an AA in Applied Science, or ACDS U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Certificate, or Bachelor's degree in early childhood or elementary education or related field.
Teaching experience with infants and toddlers or preschool is preferred, but course work with early childhood development will suffice. Duties for the Lead Teacher include: creating daily plans for assigned children/classroom and actively participate in activities with children; complete ongoing evaluations of children's progress towards developmental milestones; effectively communicate with caregivers of assigned children; maintain attendance and food records for assigned classroom; keep a neat, clean, and attractive room; must be able to lift/carry children if necessary (i.e. emergency situation, comforting, etc.); attend and participate in teacher/staff meetings.
The successful candidate for this position should be open/receptive to feedback from senior staff, be comfortable working with all ages of children, present as warm, nurturing and approachable, be organized and structured to keep the classroom on schedule, and match the energy level of the children assigned to work with.
