Job Description

The University of Indianapolis is currently accepting applications for 2 Groundskeepers. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position. The Groundskeeper is responsible for the upkeep of grounds, amenities, academic and residential building exteriors, athletic complexes, parking lots, and peripheral properties owned and controlled by the University.

Responsibilities

• Provides care and upkeep for all outdoor areas on campus
• Provides care and monitoring of the health of all turf/landscape areas
• Prunes perennials, shrubs, and trees using appropriate techniques
• Completes landscape installation and renovation
• Completes mowing, edging, line trimming, and fertilizing of turf areas
• Maintains artificial turf athletic fields
• Sets up for sport events, which includes clean up during and after games
• Maintains all asphalt areas such as parking lots and roads
• Removes all trash and debris from the grounds
• Maintains and operates campus-wide irrigation system
• Maintains University vehicles and equipment
• Assists in snow/ice removal for campus
• Assists other departments in projects and set-ups when needed
• Adheres to all safety standards and work practices established by Facilities

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver's license required
• Ability to pass a driving record check required
• Ability to pass physical, drug screen, and lift assessment required
• Ability to lift 50 pounds (unassisted) required
• Ability and willingness to work overtime and on weekends required
• Vacation approval may be limited during peak activity periods
• One year of grounds/turf maintenance experience preferred
