We are looking for an Engagement Designer like you to join us in our mission to create amazing games and experiences, and to improve ourselves and our craft. You will have a special interest in engagement features, in-game economics and systems for progression. You will report to our Studio Design Line Director and be managed by a lead designer on the project. We are considering on-site and hybrid working options, and welcome full-time remote candidates who are within the US or Canada to apply.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with owners of other parts of the game to make sure the engagement systems follow the direction and work in harmony with the game
- Be the design owner of more complex features and support leads and directors with mentorship for other designers
- Design and implement rewards, assignments and progression using the Frostbite Engine and other EA tools
- Guide others and collaborate with other disciplines if your design needs support from other crafts
- Care about the player journey from beginner to master and beyond, always looking for what to do to engage
Qualifications:
- Understanding of AAA titles for consoles in the action or FPS genre
- Experience with the player, playstyle and personas
- Proven skills in engagement systems design
- Proven skills in mentoring and supporting fellow designers
- Worked with game engines and game engine editors.
- Excellent skills in Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and analytics
- Proven documentation skills
- Excellent knowledge in communicating
Experience & Qualities Sought:
- Relevant education and diploma (Game Design, Computer Science, engineering etc)
- 3 + years of Design Experience
- 2 + years working with engagement design
- Experience in economics and conversion
- Understanding of current trends in gaming and in particular engagement mechanics in the Shooter genre
US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
- California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
º $95,450 - $141,800
- New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
º $89,200 - $141,800
º $105,250 - $141,800
- Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
º $89,200 - $118,550
- Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
º $89,200 - $130,750
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
