This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for on-call Emergency Managers to work out of any of our US offices, including Orlando, FL; Birmingham, AL; Tucson, AZ; Sacramento, CA; Denver, CO; Washington, DC; Tallahassee, FL; Atlanta, GA; Honolulu, HI; Indianapolis, IN; New Orleans, LA; Kansas City, MO; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Oklahoma City, OK; Portland, OR; Exton, PA; Columbia, SC; Dallas, TX; and Houston, TX. Be involved in projects with our Federal Programs Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

We are seeking individuals who are eager to assist during disasters on an on-call basis as a reservist employee, with the availability to deploy with little or no advance notice and for potentially long durations.


Your Impact

  • Lead Emergency Management team, providing services to clients preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters nationwide.
  • Manage Emergency Operations Center and/or Field Staging Area operations prior to, during, and post-disaster.
  • Lead and perform oversight of on-site duties including logistics, supply, cost/documentation and/or resource unit functions.
  • Attend periodic training throughout the year to maintain deployment eligibility.
  • Support Emergency Management Project Management functions.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in an Emergency Management role (Response, Recovery or related)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or similar/related concentration
  • Broad knowledge of Emergency Management principles, methods and techniques
  • FEMA Emergency Management Institute Independent Study - Professional Development Series certification (IS-100/102/200/700/800/815)
  • Travel Required - Must be able to deploy to disaster area, with little or no advance notice and potentially for long durations, which could be up to a minimum of 30 days.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Emergency Management (or related field)
  • Asset Management and Supply Logistical Operational Experience
  • Previous experience managing Field Staging Areas or state Emergency Operations Center or related environment
  • 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER certification, which would also require being able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator.
  • OSHA 10 or 30
  • DODAT1
  • 1st Aid/CPR/AED

Compensation and Benefits:
Expected Hourly Rate Regardless of Location: $30-40/hour.
