POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the dental clinic in accordance with Caridad Center standard operating procedures. The responsibilities of this role include greeting patients, ensuring completing of all patient documentation, taking X-Ray’s, manages post appointment dental instrument cleaning, monitors functionality of dental equipment and advises on repairs as needed. They will additionally assist patients in accordance with center policies ensuring patients receive the best possible service at Caridad Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures dental area remains clean and dental equipment/instruments are sterile.
  • Assists in sterilization of dental equipment and instruments.
  • Ensures all patient forms are completed and signed accurately.
  • Ensures dental area is in compliances with OSHA requirements.
  • Performs X-Ray’s and processes results on Eagle Soft System (place in patient electronic record)
  • Maintains dental equipment and ensures functionality; works in conjunction with clinic coordinator to report necessary repairs.
  • Assists dentist and other dental staff with procedures as needed.
  • Provides all patients with post-op instructions both verbally and written.
  • Provides patients with Oral Health Education information.
  • Works in support of and in cooperation with dental staff and volunteers
  • Initiates, guides, and monitors patient procedures with appropriate volunteer dentist.
  • Advises dental office coordinator of supplies and equipment inventory and functionality.
  • Assist dental office coordinator with clerical duties as necessary.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required.

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

· 2+ years dental/medical terminology preferred.

· 2+ years of Dental Health Maintenance knowledge preferred.

· Excellent organizational and communication skills.

· Ability to collaborate with a team.

· Ability to comply with all HIPPA Regulations.

· Ability to perform work with great attention to detail and accept constructive criticism.

· Ability to manage a flexible work schedule; including Saturdays.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain dental equipment in proper working order; work in conjunction with clinic coordinator to report necessary repairs.
  • Assist dentist and other dental staff with dental procedures and Eagle Soft System.
  • Provide all patients with post-op instructions both verbal and written.
  • Provide patients with Oral Health Education.
  • Work in support of and in cooperation with other dental staff, and volunteers
  • Meet regularly with the manager, to ensure that the dental clinic needs are being met.
  • Initiate, guide and monitor patient procedures with appropriate volunteer dentist.
  • Advise dental office coordinator of supplies and equipment that need to be ordered or are in need of repair.
  • Assist dental office coordinator with clerical duties as necessary.
  • Attend meetings as needed or required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of dental health maintenance
  • Familiar with dental technology and medical terminology.
  • Demonstrates the ability to aid dentists in performing diagnostic procedures.
  • Exhibits teamwork skills.
  • Must be bilingual.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Post-secondary education or graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation, Dental Assisting School.
