POSITION SUMMARY

The Billing Manager will oversee and coordinate work of subordinate employees engaged in medical billing activities. Responsibilities include oversight of check/cash posting, accounts receivable, charge entry/coding, edits processing, and customer service. Ensures that all targets are met, staff work is monitored and meets collections, net, gross, days in accounts receivable, and reject/edits targets. Performs more complex functions related to billing.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution required
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible managerial experience in medical billing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suites, including Excel
  • Thorough knowledge of medical and related terminology
  • Ability to solve problems using a logical, systematic approach
  • Knowledge of medical reimbursement methodologies
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

  • Oversee work of employees engaged in reviewing visit coding, posting charges, payments, and adjustments, processing claims, working denials, customer service calls, working collections lists, maintaining related files and logs, and checking patient eligibility
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings including agendas and minutes
  • Anticipate the needs of staff and patients and proactively seek solutions or interventions
  • Initiate coaching and work with leadership for corrective action issues
  • Proactively identifies problems and assists in solving payment and other business office issues
  • Analyze billing data and provide trending and process improvement initiatives to management and staff
  • Manage quality improvement opportunities
  • Monitor processing of claims for reimbursement and ensure all necessary documentation and attachments are included with claims. Interact with physicians and administrators to coordinate communication of billable services to patients
  • Oversee and ensure accurate input into accounts receivable system required to generate reports, collection letters, and statements
  • Assist in the resolution of patient complaints and concerns, and takes necessary action to resolve
  • Gather and exchange information necessary to ensure timely processing and reimbursement of claims and to promote maximum cash flow and reduce outstanding days in accounts receivable
  • Run regular reports aimed at monitoring department and employee goals
  • Train employees in department policies and procedures and assist employees with complex/escalated work issues or concerns
