Job Description
The Carpenter will use woodworking skills to build and repair various structures and equipment throughout the property. Reports to the on-site Service Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities: (include but not limited to)
- Installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of products, ranging from cabinets to insulation to tile to drywall.
- Assures compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide excellent resident service, including the timely completions of resident service requests and move-in check list deficiencies and the delivery of well-turned apartments to new residents.
- Complies with company policies, procedures, safety protocols, Fair Housing and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintains tools and equipment in safe operating condition.
- Documents, keeps record, and informs the Supervisor of all routine and emergency maintenance required on property.
- Cuts, shapes, and alters materials as needed.
- Rebuilds and installs doors, windows, and cabinets.
- Measures and marks materials for alterations.
- Works as part of the maintenance team, as needed.
- Performs touch-up or incidental painting after structure repairs.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all carpenter shop equipment.
- Completes snow removal tasks, including but not limited to, shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways as needed during winter months.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all related tools and equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to take accurate measurements and calculations.
- Experience with renovations of kitchens and baths, including ceramic tile.
- Excellent dry-wall skills.
- Residential turn-over experience preferred.
- Experience with interior door installation.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required.
- May be required to work at various locations/properties within the company.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds at a time.
- Must be able to squat, lift, stretch, and bend in order to reach all areas of the facility.
- Must be able to work in and on overhead structures, as well as below machinery.
