Job Role Summary

WIC Clinic Assistant is responsible for performing clerical duties and clinical duties relative to certification of individuals for the Women, Infant, and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC). This position is responsible for making appointments, determines income and residential eligibility, lab work, which includes height, weight, and iron and leads checks, prepares monthly statistical and other reports on clinic activity, explains and interprets Federal, State, and local regulations to applicants.

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school, GED or equivalence; 6 month-1 year of clerical experience in health care setting with public contact is beneficial but not mandatory
  • License/Certification required: valid Indiana drivers’ license; access to personal transportation

  • Communicate tactfully/pleasantly with public
  • Work effectively under pressure of patient volume
  • Effectively organize and carry out work responsibilities
  • Work effectively with clinic team and other health care professionals and community health care agencies to exchange information concerning program clients


Working Enviornment

  • Travel required between various program locations
  • Exposure to communicable illness and disease due to direct and frequent client contact
  • Some physical lifting and carrying supplies, walking and standing
