JOB SUMMARY
At Houston Methodist, the Videographer/Photographer/Editor is responsible for shooting and editing video and photography for projects that support and communicate Houston Methodist's mission, values and brand. The incumbent will work as one or more of the following on most projects: video editor, photo editor, motion graphics artist, teleprompter operator, sound engineer, videographer, and/or photographer. While the primary responsibility is to shoot and edit video and photos for Houston Methodist Hospital corporate marketing, communications, and public relations, the Videographer/Photographer/Editor will also work on projects for other Houston Methodist departments and entities as needed. The primary responsibility of this role will be either as editor or as videographer/ photographer as determined by department need.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE - 20 %

  • Collaborates with colleagues, physicians and staff to shoot and edit videos and photographs that meet or exceed specific target objectives (EF).
  • With direction, interacts and collaborates frequently with high-level Houston Methodist executives, board members, department chairs, physicians, directors and managers during video/photo shoots; displays highest level of professionalism during such interactions (EF).
  • Interactes with patients showing compassion and sensitivity;ensures the integrity of the patient's stories (EF).


SERVICE - 35 %

  • Provides creative input as to execution of projects.
  • Edits and and shoots videos and photographs that meet or exceed specific target objectives and advance the goals of the client and Houston Methodist (EF).
  • Provides/distributes videos and photographs produced in specified formats to colleagues, physicians and staff in response to requests and project requirements.


QUALITY/SAFETY - 20%

  • Creates a high level of quality for visual assets (EF).
  • Creates visual assets that adhere to and advance brand standard (EF).
  • Protects patient privacy by obtaining written consent and ensures final products do not display protected patient information and identity (EF).
  • Follows established safety protocols when shooting. particularly in operating room settings or other patient environments (EF).


FINANCE - 5%

  • Maximizes productivity and quality in order to minimize need for outside vendors.


GROWTH/INNOVATION - 20 %

  • Proactively finds solutions to technical, creative, and process challenges (EF).
  • Creates and edits unique and creative visual assets that maximize audience engagement while leveraging traditional techniques (EF).
  • Seeks out and applies new and current knowledge of visual media technology and techniques.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Radio-Television-Film or related field required. Related field to include Digital Media, Photography, Journalism, Media Production/Arts, Broadcasting or Communications.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • With bachelor's degree, 3 years experience in videography, photography or video/photography editing is required
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, 5 years experience in videography, photography or video/photography editing is required.

  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
  • Skilled and knowledgeable in current video and photographic editing and trends.
  • Ability to work alone or in teams.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, high-pressure, fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages of completion;able to organize incoming project assets.
  • Strong scriptwriting and story-telling skills. Ability to recognize quality scripts and make recommendations for improvement.
