This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills. This is a highly engaging role where partnership with many different non-technical lines of business and other technology teams will be crucial. Time to market is key, so agile/iterative delivery is the working model for the team. Operational efficiency will be a very significant for delivery to keep total cost of ownership to minimum.

You will:

  • Lead and mentor best-in-class delivery teams consisting of full stack software engineers, web developers, application architects, product managers and scrum masters. These teams will include consulting partners and distributed geographically across multiple continents.
  • Collaborate with other tech teams, businesses across sites for project work, develop platform vision and roadmap
  • Develop and present project statuses, project concepts and platform roadmaps to senior leaders
  • Be responsible for technical analysis, effort estimation, product and system design, evaluating architectural fit and compliance, resource schedules, delivery landmarks and overall product quality.
  • Display technical leadership and oversight of implementation and deployment planning, system integration, process improvements, quality assurance, delivery, operations and sustainability of technical solutions.
  • Directly supervise, mentor, and develop the technical staff consisting of software engineers, platform engineers, build engineers etc. ensuring that they are motivated, productive, and working to their full potential.
  • Resolve conflicts by demonstrating leadership and appropriate decision-making proficiencies.
  • Implement and grow a culture focused on quality and experience improvements.
  • Ensure multiple concurrent ongoing projects and team objectives are resourced optimally to accomplish goals.
  • Meet with collaborators, vendor partners and customers on a recurring basis to review team priorities, execution and pertinent business/delivery updates.
  • Successfully lead project/solution timeline and financials including budget, cost, invoices and contracts.
  • Support on-call response to critical operational issues; be able to work beyond normal hours and support implementation transition activities and hyper-care shifts as needed.
  • Participates in multi-functional partnership across Sales, Product, Pricing, Revenue Management, and multiple Cross Technical Engineering Teams to define and influence long-term strategy for Commerce/Sales platform.
  • Participate and drive initiatives in the broader Disney Technology organization and ensure that products are created in a platform-centric manner and is metrics and performance driven to ensure they are future ready.
  • Participates in 24x7 on-call manager rotation with other managers.
  • Assess and analyze team budgets to find ways to minimize expenses.
  • Develop and run effective working partnerships with departments, groups, and staff

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years of development experience, preferably full stack.
  • Additional 2+ years leading engineering and technology delivery teams.
  • Validated knowledge and experience with highly-scalable architectures, patterns, and technologies.
  • Experience creating architecture designs that incorporate resiliency and performance.
  • Experience in AWS technologies like ECS, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Redis, CloudWatch, Kinesis, AWS Gateway etc.
  • Good understanding of CICD (GitHub, Jenkins, maven, nexus, consul etc.)
  • Familiarity with AMQP messaging platform like RabbitMQ.
  • Hands on knowledge of using AppDynamics, Grafana, and Splunk.
  • Experience with the creation and consumption of SOAP and REST based Web Services.
  • Good understanding of SOX compliance and application security concepts along with PCI and PII
  • Proven track record leading technology teams in a highly complex and critical application team.
  • Confirmed ability to provide 24x7 on-call support and maintain velocity of ongoing efforts.
  • Validated experience with delivering software solutions using iterative/Agile methodology.
  • Experience forecasting budgets. This includes project, sustainment, hardware, and software budgets.
  • Strong conflict resolution, problem solving, triaging and analysis skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be thorough, self-organized, be committed to quality and be capable of supervising multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Be a strategic problem solver of continued optimization and operations improvements.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the commerce space and products / pricing / inventory domains
  • Experience in travel and hospitality/hotel industries

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field/work experience
