Job Description


This full-time position will handle third party property, bodily injury/NYLL claims from notice of loss through conclusion primarily in New York City metro and the surrounding boroughs.

  • Promptly investigates all assigned claims for coverage, liability assessment, damages evaluation and subrogation/contribution. Ensures timely disposition of all claims in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Review the applicable coverage forms and endorsements for thorough analysis of coverage and document the claim file accordingly.
  • Maintain and manage a diary system and claim pending to efficiently and effectively resolve all claims.
  • Make recommendations to management pertaining to coverage, settlement positions and file reserves based on well supported reports.
  • Work collaboratively with defense counsel to create a litigation plan and provide effective litigation management.
  • Negotiate and resolve high exposure, complex claims
  • Participate in Claim Reviews and claim audits
  • Attend depositions, settlement conferences and trials when necessary.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field , or the equivalent education and/or experience
  • 10 years of relevant and progressive experience in insurance claims, including New York Labor Law
  • Adjuster license preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Possess demonstrated technical knowledge and skills, including product and industry, reflective of successful progress
  • Ability to successfully obtain the required state adjusters’ licenses
