Salary Range: $58,500 - $70,000
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Research Coordinator (RC) works within the Dr. Thomas Connors laboratory and supports the research team in the overall conduct of immunological investigations aimed at defining immune responses during health and disease. While participating collaboratively within the lab on open studies, the Research Coordinator's primary responsibility will be supporting human sample procurement within the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing research support to our division.

Responsibilities
Work with patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. All research projects within this portfolio will be focused on identifying immune responses during health and acute/chronic illness. These studies will include a component of patient-facing research, including interacting with patients and obtaining consent to participate in outcome research studies then coordinating sample procurement with medical staff.
Handle data collection including chart reviews, as it pertains to participation in these research studies.
Ensure timely collection of protocol related data (including both data and biospecimens) and will maintain regulatory binders and ensure study compliance with all state, federal, and IRB requirements.
Manage IRB protocol submissions (amendments, continuing reviews, and minimal risk protocols) and screen patients for protocol eligibility, obtain informed consent, and register study participants to research studies.
Oversight of protocols and IRB submissions/renewals/modifications.
Interact with study participants as directed/required by the protocol and/or study team—this will include face-to-face interactions with medical staff to conduct eligibility screening and patients to obtain consent for research participation.
Responsible for data collection and management, filing and archiving of study records, and resolution of data queries.
Prepare and or complete regulatory related reports and IRB submissions, maintain and organize study regulatory binders, enter all required study data on an ongoing basis.
Ensure all study related samples are collected, properly prepared and processed.
Screening of inpatient/outpatient lists for eligible subjects.
May be responsible for phlebotomy (training provided) to obtain biospecimens.
Will be responsible for basic sample processing and data analysis.
Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus two years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong organizational skills.
Work with Microsoft Office suite applications.
Prior course or lab work in immunology.
Comfort with patient-interaction both in person and by telephone/Zoom, and interest in building a skill set in patient rapport is essential.
