Job Description

The contractor shall provide full time (40 hours per week) on-site mechanical engineering support at CEU Providence. Services shall include peer and independent technical reviews, preparation of Construction Contract Documents including project scope development, field investigation, planning, specifications, drawings, cost estimating, problem and conflict resolution, and scheduling and design production. The contractor shall provide mechanical engineering troubleshooting and/or consultations, providing technical and project advice and guidance to CEU Providence Project Managers. The contractor shall conduct comprehensive technical reviews of professional studies, reports and analysis. The contractor shall collaborate with managers, other engineers/architects, construction project managers, legal staff, contract specialists and or contractor personnel, and provides advice and insight on the resolution of unique and/or complex mechanical engineering problems and disputes. The contractor shall provide technical reviews and review comments for project designs, including Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build efforts.

Requirements

Must be eligible to work in the United States

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, and practices
  • Experience in National Building Codes (IBC, IRC and associated reference codes) and mechanical engineering sub-disciplines (including heating, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing, fuel systems, tanks, pumps, piping, steam, and minor structural design issues)
  • Minimum of five years of work experience in the mechanical engineering field

Personnel qualifications will be evaluated based on demonstration of candidate meeting the minimum requirements related to years of experience and IBC/IRC experience.

Candidates will be considered more qualified if resumes reflect one or more of the following:

  • professional licenses related to the scope of work
  • demonstration of prior experience with design work for conditions in the D1 AOR (high-seismic, high-wind and coastal maritime climate conditions)
  • AutoCAD drafting skills
  • experience developing/reviewing technical packages for Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build and performance specifications
