The Merchandise Strategy & Development team provides the overall vision and strategy for how consumers will experience and engage with our titles via merchandise. The LA-based Merchandise Strategy & Development Manager will focus on consumer products title-level development in support of IP originating in the US and Canada from all content verticals inclusive of multiple genres across series and features, both live action and animated.
- Work with Creative, Licensing, Retail, Product Development, Operations and Experiences to bring IP to life off the platform
- Develop strategic global business plans for priority titles and guide regional and cross functional implementation to increase commercial opportunities and drive revenue
- Collaborate with internal Content and Marcomms teams to align consumer products specific strategies with broader title level strategies and to unlock potential synergies
- Proactively manage and build trust across key external stakeholder relationships with creators and required partners via regular communications around plans, designs, and campaigns
- Lead ideation of bridge plans with main internal stakeholders to sustain the lifecycle of our key titles, via content or promotional tactics
- Evaluate upcoming titles to determine the viability of potential merchandisable programs and/or buzzworthy activations via any consumer touch point (e.g. merchandise, interactive, retail, experiences, publishing)
- Strengthen IPs through content and marketing alignment and white space business opportunities
- Develop and update resource materials for the Consumer Products team, including strategy docs, title pitch decks and business plans
- 10+ years of experience in brand management, brand/marketing strategy and/or franchise development (global preferred)
- Experience in consumer products (incl. licensing and retail) and/or brand building (ie. consulting, brand marketing)
- Strong passion for entertainment properties, with knowledge of the competitive landscape
- Has a track record of building brands, marketing campaigns and/or franchises that connect consumers to brands and create a passionate following
- Ability to analyze multiple data inputs and formulate strategies and recommendations
- A cross-functional leader who is able to engage, listen and collaborate with internal departments/teams to align early on in terms of overall strategy and goals
- Is an effective collaborator in a fast paced, multifaceted environment
- Experience and appropriate discretion working with Content teams and high profile Talent
