Position Description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager in Canada, the Liaison Engineer is the point of reference for the company's departments that require support from the Product Engineering team. This role will be based at the Plattsburgh NY facility and will visit other Nova Bus facilities on occasion. You will work with the production support team daily to resolve various technical issues ranging from mechanical to control systems. You will also be responsible for serving as a liaison in the event of a problem with the production, quality, manufacturing engineering and after-sales service departments during the integration of new developments into production.

Brief Job Description:
  • Support the production support team on a daily basis in the resolution of technical issues to ensure the delivery of vehicles
  • Coordinate PD actions in complex technical problem resolution teams, mechanical, electrical as well as electronical issues
  • Coordinate the support of the functional engineers in making decisions regarding corrective actions to protect the integrity of the design
  • Support special support requests (purchasing, logistics, quality, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards during production
  • Interpret technical drawings & specifications and provide guidance to the manufacturing engineering and quality team
  • Interpret customer specification requirements in case of dispute
  • Represent the product development department during the inspection and delivery of vehicles to customers
  • Manage the performance statistics of the product development team in production and participate in the development of improvement plans
  • Collaborate and get involved in continuous improvement activities
  • Participate in value analysis and cost reduction projects
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment in systems integration, preferably in the transportation or automotive industry
  • Ability to travel, including overnight and outside of the U.S.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Autonomous, resourceful team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in crisis management
  • Ability to manage several projects in parallel; Manage and analyze data
  • Knowledge of problem-solving methods (8D) and continuous improvement concepts
  • Good command of Microsoft Office suite, and knowledge of an MRP system
  • Knowledge of mechanical software: Inventor, CATIA
  • Fluent in English (Oral and Written) - Open to learn a new language (French)
