The University of Houston Law Center invites applications for a Law Librarian.

The University of Houston Law Center O’Quinn Law Library is seeking outstanding candidates with demonstrated library skills; proven capacity to work both independently and as a team member; and the ability to work effectively with law faculty, students, staff, and a diverse community.

Responsibilities: Provide services to law center including informal instruction, research, reference, and evaluation and selection of information resources for collection development; and other duties as assigned. Expertise of applicants will be considered when assigning specific job duties as well as the needs of the library. Formal instructional opportunities are available but are awarded and paid separately.

Reports to the Director of the Law Library.

This is a librarian position. Librarians hold academic rank pursuant to the University of Houston Librarians’ Bylaws Document. They are expected to develop a record of service, scholarship, and professional involvement. The UH Libraries support the ongoing professional development of librarians and our goal is to recruit librarians committed to continuous learning.

Compensation will be based on experience and expertise.

The Law Center has approximately fifty full-time faculty and enrolls approximately 750 students. In addition to offering a vibrant J.D. program, the Law Center offers LL.M. concentrations in health law; taxation; energy, environment, and natural resources; international law; and intellectual property and information law. The Law Center is fully accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools.

Qualifications:

A Master’s degree from an American Library Association-accredited program, or a Doctorate of Jurisprudence with demonstrated experience or interest in law librarianship.
