SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under general direction of the Director of Human Resources, manages the day-to-day operations of the human resource department. Oversees the employee transactions, benefit, compensation, employee records, credentialing, workers compensation, unemployment, and payroll functions. This would also include planning, development, and ensuring the successful implementation of various HR operational functions. Supervises the human resources staff. Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external resources in conjunction with the goals and objectives of HR. Guides management personnel and staff, and recommends actions concerning employee relations, disciplinary actions, selections, and hiring.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency required. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing.
    • Other (Specify): Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or Human Resources preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Over six years.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Managing and leading human resource functions and staff.
  • Ability to coach direct reports and managers on matters relating to human resources management.
  • Working knowledge of local and national labor/employment laws.
  • Ability to analyze and assess information objectively, resolve problems effectively, and develop solutions in accordance with policies, procedures, rules and employment laws.
  • Working knowledge of computer technological applications as related to specific job functions. (i.e. MS Word, Excel, HR systems)
  • Thorough and accurate recordkeeping and record review, with attention to detail.
  • Must be discreet and maintain confidentiality of the department, the organization, and all present and past employees.
  • Able to interact with all levels of management.
  • Professional and customer service-oriented behavior; pleasant, tactful, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver operational excellence by planning, organizing and owning work assignments from start to finish.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be versatile work under pressure.
  • Ability to relate well to others; possesses empathy and humility in interactions within and outside of the organization.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
