HR GENERALIST- TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT


The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is seeking a HR Generalist-Training and Development. This is a hybrid role and the ideal candidate will be service oriented in the delivery of several critical human resources functions. This position will work with our remote staff and contractors, focusing on our growing team. Candidates for this remote based position may be located anywhere in the United States.


The HR Generalist-Training and Development reports to the HR Manager and assesses, designs, and/or conducts training and development programs to improve individual and organizational performance. In addition, they will assist in the administration of a broad range of HR duties including recruitment, employee/labor relations, and the communication of organizational policies and procedures.


IEEFA is a rapidly-growing NGO/nonprofit that conducts research and analysis on financial and economic issues related to energy markets, trends and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has a team of 70+ analysts and communications personnel located in 15 countries across the globe. IEEFA produces a significant volume of original research, as well as ongoing analysis and reports on issues affecting energy industries. Key responsibilities:


Training and Development – 70%

  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate online and traditional training using research, subject matter experts, or other sources to create effective original training programs customized to meet the specific needs of the organization which include NEO.
  • Partner with management to assess organizational performance problems through various information gathering methodologies such as focus groups, surveys, and employee interviews in order to provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Consult with departments to address identified performance problems and recommend, develop, and deliver appropriate learning solutions.
  • Assess the training needs of employees.
  • Strategically link organizational goals and objectives to appropriate learning interventions to promote greater organizational effectiveness.
  • Assist with marketing training programs through the organization to enhance employee awareness and participation.

HR Generalist – 30%

  • Act as a point of contact to provide timely and accurate HR services and support.
  • Provide comprehensive recruitment strategies to ensure high quality and professional experiences to the candidate and hiring manager.
  • Maintain accurate employee related records in IEEFA’s database(s).
  • Assist the HR Manager in providing advice and interpretations regarding relevant policies and procedures to IEEFA personnel.
  • Support the HR Manager in the development and delivery of IEEFA’s HR strategy and initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of two years of training and/or organizational development consulting experience
  • Strong commitment to excellence in service.
  • Strong relationship-building, consultative and influencing skills; and exceptional interpersonal skills to interact and communicate with diplomacy and tact with all levels and backgrounds of staff.
  • A high degree of judgment and discretion, adaptability, strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team with a strong initiative to manage high volume workflow.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid program management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Commitment to continued learning and professional development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • One to two years of HR Generalist or related experience
  • Experience in leadership consultation regarding human resource matters
  • Previous experience working for an NGO/non-profit organization

Salary: $62,000 - $70,000; Salary commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule: Full time, 40 hours/week. The HR Generalist-Training and Development will work with IEEFA’s global teams and will establish a schedule to include some early morning and evening shifts due to time zone differences.


Travel:Some travel may be required. All global team members attend IEEFA’s annual conference and international team retreat.


Reports To: HR Manager


Physical Demands and Work Environment: The HR Generalist-Training and Development will work remotely. Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back and neck strain.
