Purpose of Job:
Assists the Human Resources Department within the school. Perform and assist with ad hoc projects for the school’s Human Resources Department related to employee relations, hiring, training, recruitment, retention, compensation, reporting and compliance items. Assist with benefits management including health, dental, vision, workers’ compensation and unemployment. Responsible for answering employee questions regarding benefits; mediating problems involving insurance coverage for employees; process/maintain benefits records, vendor premium payments, maintain spreadsheets and ledgers for reconciling payroll benefit deductions, scheduling and presenting new employee orientation programs pertaining to approved benefits, submitting benefit claims, and preparing necessary reports, paperwork and claims.

Report all changes to payroll, including but not limited to transfers, terminations, resignations, and maternity leaves.
- Communicate with administrative personnel regarding changes and deadlines.
- Maintain databases regarding personnel issues and employee benefit changes.
- Provide support to school personnel by responding to inquiries regarding workers’ compensation, health, dental and vision insurance.
- Investigate, evaluate, and submit worker’s compensation injury claims.
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate, effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with staff, and community.
- Manage and submit all short term and long-term disability claims.
- Manage all Covid accommodations as well as providing guidance and information to leadership and employees.
- Manage employee benefits, including new enrollment, changes and annual enrollment.
- Update all benefit vendor systems with employee enrollment and changes monthly as needed.
- Reconcile all benefit vendor invoices monthly/biweekly with Finance.
- Manage and file all unemployment claims as they come in as well as updating the state with additional information as needed.
- Act as a backup for general HR functions in the absence of the other HR Generalists.
- Maintain accurate employee records and electronic employee files ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with planning and execution of special school events, i.e. wellness committee, annual GOAL Forum etc.,
- Respond to questions from customers and employees.
- Provide administrative support to the human resources team.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree or training from an accredited college or university preferred.
- PHR certification preferred.
Experience:
- 1 year of experience in a human resource department of a multi-site organization, preferred.
- Experience working with employee benefits preferred.
- Experience working in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience working with Paycom HRIS software, a plus
Or other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of human resources systems and practices and the ability to apply them in a school setting
- Knowledge of the legal requirements that apply to employment in a school setting and the ability to spot legal risks and identify appropriate sources of information regarding issue resolution
- Ability to develop an employee culture that enhances productivity by fostering clear communication, respect, and fair treatment for employees
- Have working knowledge of computers and related software (i.e. Microsoft Office)
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
