Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Project Manager Environmental, we'll count on you to:

  • Work as a member of our environmental planning team in HDR’s Northern California and South West Region, collaborating with a diverse group of natural and cultural resource professionals and engineers.
  • Provide technical expertise at project level and assist with growing HDR's environmental program through development of client relationships and identification of opportunities for expansion of our environmental services.
  • Take responsibility for project management, as well as marketing, business development and client management.
  • Establish sequencing of environmental tasks/projects, from financial management of project through successful completion (close-out), utilizing our technology, standards and project delivery practices.
  • Plan and direct medium- to large-sized environmental tasks/projects for a diverse set of projects, with a focus on water projects.
  • Prepare, plan and analyze/review technical studies, CEQA and NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents.
  • Accomplish work independently and through coordinating or supervising small to large technical and professional teams from local and regional offices.
  • Support regional and national projects in specific areas of technical expertise and be closely involved in public participation and multiple agency coordination.
  • Take responsibility for project management, including development and management of project budgets, schedules and quality of products.
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures

Qualifications


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Ecological Sciences, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or closely related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental planning, regulatory permitting managements, and CEQA/NEPA documentation.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing the regulatory evaluation and permitting for multiple resources, including Water, Power, Transportation and FERC projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CEQA, NEPA and how they coordinate with the environmental permitting processes is strongly recommended
  • Experience managing CEQA and NEPA-specific projects
  • PMP certification

The expected compensation range for this position is $95,172.00 - $154,500 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
