At Alliance Innovation Lab – Silicon Valley (AIL–SV), we bring artificial intelligence (AI) to mobility and beyond. From developing autonomous driving systems to designing experiences and building future businesses, our researchers apply AI technology to improve mobility for everybody. We are exploring the cutting edge of new technologies and combine with new business models to lay the groundwork for the future of mobility.

We’re currently looking for a Summer Intern to join our team in Silicon Valley, CA. The Internship will be a full-time role starting in May 2023 and ending in July / August 2023.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of tasks:

Review carbon emissions pathways and businesses in the automotive industry and evaluate their economic impact.
Model current and future emissions using our net-zero roadmap.
Explore local energy policy and study their effect on carbon reduction trends.
Collaborate with internal sustainability teams to identify key inputs.
Effectively communicate your findings through presentations and reports to stakeholders.

To be considered for this role, you must:
Currently enrolled in a Graduate or Undergraduate program (rising senior majoring in Environmental Engineering, Energy, Political Sciences, Transportation, Sustainability, or related fields.
Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Experience with energy or emission modeling (coursework projects will be considered as experience).
Have knowledge and understanding of climate policy, carbon emission regulation, and GHG corporate standards.
Have strong analytical skills.
Be self-motivated to apply your working knowledge and toolset to building models and evaluating them.
Exhibit strong organization and information synthesis abilities with a keen attention to detail.

Bonus points if you have:
Advanced Excel skills (VBA, Macro, etc.)
Data analytics, visualization, and simulation skills (R, Python, etc.) are a plus
Willingness to challenge yourself and develop your talents and skillsets.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Experience presenting your work at academic conferences.
