Job Description

Manages projects for business development (BD) including proposals, qualification documents, presentations, database management, project data sheets, trade shows and other services and materials as requested. Reports to BD Vice President, as well as other senior Construction staff. Solicits business from outside vendors for proposal and presentation materials on behalf of the company.

  • Develops comprehensive business development targets including Capital Outlay Analysis to identify a pursuit list. Works with of VPs and BD Directors create a strategy for engagement with various stakeholders for due diligence regarding project drivers, influencers, the solicitation process and any important issues that could affect the project prior to the release of the RFP/RFQ.
  • Manages Proposal and Presentation Development.
    • Analyze proposal documents to identify all requirements.
    • Incorporates information gleaned from stakeholder meetings to ensure inclusion of key concerns and important project drivers.
    • Develops and manages the Responsibility Matrix for each assigned project that tracks assignments to construction staff and deliverable dates that includes ample time for document development, all reviews, production and delivery. Anticipates possible trouble areas and works to provide practical solutions to problems as they arise.
    • Must be able to assemble content from multiple sources to create sales-driven, BD documents.
    • Exercises independent judgment for inclusion of best content material and methods to meet deadlines. Identifies or creates copy to effectively communicate Stiles Construction’s core capabilities and differentiators to develop responses. Research and gather information to include corporate information, past experience examples, proposed project team resumes and other standard materials. Captures any new language written for addition to the boilerplate database.
  • Manages annual awards and industry survey application process
  • Maintenance of database and spreadsheet records of current and historical project data.
  • Coordinates professional photography of completed projects.
  • Performs research and gathers information on potential clients and projects.
  • Represent Stiles Corporation in a courteous and professional manner when coordinating and communicating with industry colleagues such as Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, Clients, etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

A commitment to working on a team with a flexible and positive approach to problem solving and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management is essential.

EXPERIENCE:

Must be able to work creatively and independently and possess excellent organizational, writing and project management skills, with the ability to focus on priorities and deadlines.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Extremely proficient in MS Office and the Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on Photoshop and InDesign.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal, copywriting, proofreading and graphic communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with exacting attention to detail
  • Strong Page Layout Design, Typography and Color Theory skills
  • Experience with proposal coordination and presentation development
  • Positive “can-do” attitude, ability to set priorities and exhibit strong time management skills, excellent attention to detail, communication skills, high energy level and a sense of humor essential.
  • Willingness and ability to manage the simultaneous requests of senior management, project managers, and marketing staff and ability to work efficiently and productively under the pressure of tight deadlines

  • Education: Related bachelor's degree in Communications, English or Marketing, Construction, Architecture, Graphic Design, or equivalent.
  • Minimum Experience: Five to seven years of experience in Business Development/Marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
